Huh? MD5(16bit) but there are 64 bits in 49ba59abbe56e057. I could see md5(16hit) as there are 16 hits (hex digits). Anyway it's very easy to explain "the middle 64 bits of an MD5."
I'm confused why did you post this?

is this guy saying there is a MD5 mode which returns 8 bytes? and that these 8bytes seem to come from the middle portion ofthe 16byte returned digest coz i really have no idea what he is going on about?

any maybe he is asking if there is any way rcracki can be used maybe on the current MD5 tables to recover this 8byte MD5 hash... since it seems to be a substring of the 16byte .... dunno just a random thought

Oh, this md5(16hit), is a very laughable hash algorithm that derived from original MD5 hash algorithm.
This hash algorithm is made by DvBBS(A BBS system with many bugs).
Just substr(hex(md5(plain)),8,16) (My english is bad, so I can only use this code to describe it)

May I take the liberty of using my own language and jifan exchanges:
楼主,16位MD5的彩虹表我已经研究过了,如果你有兴趣的话,可以加我的QQ:934949315。

Well anyway if you do create tables for this they will also work on normal MD5 as rcrack only uses the first 64 bits of an MD5.
