Hi !

I might seem a little egocentric, but how can we build optimed & indexed .rti tables by ourself , without using boinc.

I don't mind sharing the results, but the problem is that I can't actually, I can't choose what table to work on.

Let say I want to do a table with a different charset ?
Actually, either I don't, or I must build regular tables, bigger & slower (to use).

thanks !

First of all you need a tool that generates .rt tables.
Here are 2 of them WinRTgen, rainbow-crack. (i would use rainbow-crack because it's a little faster)

Next you need to have in mind what hardware you have : how much storage you want to use with rainbow tables, and the speed of your computer/s.

So I ask you, how much storage do you want to sacrifice and what CPU ?
After you answer this, we will talk about the charSet you want to generate first.

Are you talking about a custom charset ? Of course, you can edit the charset.txt and add a new, custom charset. But keep in mind, you need to use that exact charset.txt file when you use the cracker.

Hi,

I know it's my first post here, but it's not the first time I play with rainbow tables. I had worked with them a couple of years ago, when it was new... Just to say that I know the basics about the space requirement and the CPU power that it require to build a table.

In fact, my question is not:
- "how to generate rainbow tables ?".
My question is really:
- "how to generate .rti & .rti.index rainbow tables ?"

Do I need to build regular tables, and then convert them to the .rti & .rti.index format ?
If so, where can I find how ?

Thanks for the help ! :)

well i guess you could use anything RT generator to produce some original *.RT files first.
Then perfect them with he RTPerfector tool, after that there is a RTO->RTI2 tool which will produce the RTI2, RTI2.Index as opposed to the RTI format

I however, haven't gotten the rcracki to function with the RTI2 formats, i get some invalid pointer error with MSVCR100.dll, but the conversion to the indexed RTI2 format works fine.

What's the difference between rti and rti2 ?

When you say rto, you means .rt ? (the regular table format)

rto = .rt (i think it's RToriginal)
RTI2 file format : topic1217.html
RTI1 file format : topic1223.html

You could start by suggesting a table to do. If we find it to be relevant, I will add it to the BOINC queue to be generated.
